This sorority has a very significant place in history because the term Sorority was first coined for this women’s group by Dr. Frank Smalley. Prior to this, even women’s organizations were known as fraternities. Pink carnation is the flower of this fraternity and brown and mode are its colors. The sorority’s motto is “Founded upon a rock”. Gamma Phi Beta sorority is present in USA and Canada and has around 300 college chapters.

A newly joined member is given Greek paddles as a keepsake. These paddles carry the logo and symbol of the fraternity which is a crescent moon for Gamma Phi Beta sorority. The crescent moon cradles all the three Greek letters; Gamma, phi and Beta. It is interesting to note that the badge of this sorority was first designed by Tiffany & Co. in late 1800’s. Any member can design his or her own Greek paddles by having a personalized text message engraved on the front on it, along with the Greek symbols of the name of the fraternity. Most of the paddles are laser engraved on the face of it and the chapter name is at the back of the paddle.
